How to Keep Your Plants Alive In Your New Location

Plants play a crucial role in saving the world from the harmful toxins produced daily. If you are committed to maintaining a sustainable environment, consider having a small garden on your balcony or placing a plant in your office. However, relocating your plants during a sudden home or office shifting can be challenging. The task is to shift the plants to a new location and ensure their survival in the new environment.

Suppose you want to keep your plants alive and thriving. In that case, it’s essential to be aware of the factors that can potentially harm them, such as temperature fluctuations, inadequate sunlight exposure, and other issues. But don’t worry; you can easily maintain healthy and vibrant plants with the proper knowledge and strategies. Here are some expert tips to help you keep your plants fresh and green.

Tips for Keeping Your Plants Alive In New Location

Tweak the sunlight and temperature

Your plant will eventually become thirstier the more sunlight it receives. This is due to several factors, chief among them being that plants use the most water when they undergo a process known as transpiration, which is accelerated by sunlight exposure. So, when you shift to different locations with the help of Packers and Movers, try this method to save your plant.

Re-pot the plant

An oak tree should not be planted in a Styrofoam cup. Select a pot that fits your plant perfectly in terms of size. Most nursery pots are compact and packed; to give your plant’s roots enough space to stretch out, choose a pot at least two inches larger.

Water wicking method

For this, you will need cotton rope and a large water container (such as a vase or bucket). Most hardware stores carry cotton clotheslines, which are excellent for the job. Cut a length of cotton rope long enough to reach the earth around your plant and between the bottom of your water container.

Place one end of the rope near the plant, a few inches below the soil’s surface. Be cautious to avoid uprooting the roots. After filling the container with water, place the other end of the rope in the bottom. Verify that the rope hits the container’s bottom.

Feed them properly

Soil cannot provide indoor plants with all the nutrients they require to flourish, so it is a good idea to add some during the spring and summer months when they are at their busiest. A few factors determine how often and what kind, which we will discuss further later.

Use proper fertilizer

If you fertilize your houseplants on occasion, wait to do so until after you get back from your trip. In the weeks before your travel, avoid fertilizing your plants. To help your plants preserve energy and water while you’re gone, you should develop them as slowly as possible.

These are some of the tips through which you can maintain your plants for your home.
